Our Story
Building a sustainable luxury experience in harmony with nature
A Vision Born from Nature
Sleroma began as a bold vision: to create a luxury destination that would not conquer the landscape, but rather become one with it. Our founder, Erik Lindström, spent years searching for the perfect location—one that would offer unparalleled natural beauty while being secluded enough to create a truly immersive experience.
When he discovered this dramatic fjord setting in 2018, he knew immediately that this was where Sleroma would take root. What followed was three years of careful planning, environmental studies, and collaboration with leading sustainable architects to ensure our presence would enhance rather than detract from this pristine environment.

Architectural Challenge
Designing with nature, not against it

Building in Harmony with the Fjord
Constructing Sleroma presented unique challenges that required innovative solutions. Rather than flattening the terrain to accommodate our structure, we adapted our design to follow the natural contours of the cliff face.
Our team of architects, led by renowned Norwegian designer Astrid Hagen, spent months studying the geological formations, wind patterns, and seasonal changes to create a structure that would withstand the elements while minimizing environmental impact.
The result is a building that appears to grow from the rock itself, with cantilevered sections that provide breathtaking views without requiring additional ground supports. Every room was positioned to maximize natural light and views, reducing energy consumption while enhancing the guest experience.
Sustainability Features
Leading the way in eco-luxury innovation
Energy Systems
Our hybrid energy system combines hydroelectric power from the fjord's waterfall with geothermal heating drawn from deep beneath the earth. Solar panels on all south-facing surfaces capture additional energy during the long summer days.
Water Management
Advanced rainwater harvesting systems collect precipitation from all surfaces, which is then filtered through a natural process and used for non-potable purposes. Our greywater recycling system further reduces our freshwater consumption.
Zero-Waste Initiative
Sleroma operates on a zero-waste principle. Organic waste is composted to nourish our kitchen gardens, while all other materials are carefully sorted for recycling or upcycling through partnerships with local artisans.
Biodiversity Protection
We maintain large portions of our property as wildlife corridors and have established a conservation program that monitors and protects the diverse species that inhabit the surrounding ecosystem.
Local Materials
Celebrating Nordic craftsmanship and reducing our carbon footprint
The Soul of Scandinavian Design
Every element of Sleroma tells the story of Nordic craftsmanship and our commitment to sustainability. From the locally quarried stone that forms our exterior walls to the fallen timber salvaged from nearby forests and transformed into elegant furniture, we prioritize materials that connect our guests to the surrounding landscape.
Our interiors feature wool textiles from local sheep, hand-woven by regional artisans. Light fixtures showcase blown glass from a studio just 40 kilometers away. Even our staff uniforms are created from sustainable linen grown and processed within Scandinavia.
By sourcing materials locally, we not only reduce our carbon footprint but also support the vibrant community of craftspeople who help keep traditional skills alive while innovating for the future.
